The OSH is a not-for-profit organization that was created in 2006 as a provisional, provincial affiliate of the Canadian Society of Homeopaths. What this means is that CSH members get automatic membership in the OSH when they join, and thus have 2 organizations working for them. As a national group, the CSH can address national issues that affect us in Ontario, as well as federal government issues (e.g. the regulation of homeopathic remedies). As a provincial group, the OSH can address provincial issues (e.g. the regulation of the practice of homeopathy) as well as work within our community to strengthen it and promote homeopathic awareness and education. One of our current immediate goals is to finalize our permanent affiliate agreement with the CSH, which should be done within the next month.
While we will look to grow from year to year, here are some of our current goals that we’re working towards:
- Support professional homeopaths in Ontario through our affiliation with the CSH
- Help our members to increase their sense of community with each other, and with homeopaths in other
groups as well (including a Winterfest celebration)
- Help homeopathic students to be more involved and knowledgeable about the community, and more
prepared for practice with our School Liaison committee
- Raise public awareness and education of homeopathy, and help our members to do this as well (with
emphasis during Homeopathic Awareness Month)
- To continue to stay involved with the government through the process of regulation, and other issues that
may arise, and keep our members well-informed along the way (several of our board members have
been in contact with the government since the beginning of regulatory issues in Ontario, and one has
applied for the Transitional Council)
- Keep our members abreast of current and upcoming events, recent developments in homeopathy, and
other pertinent opportunities that arise in Ontario and across Canada (including a regular newsletter)
- Provide a current directory of members for networking as well as for the public when searching for a
homeopath in their area
